A Christian group, Message of Salvation Women Ministry (MESAWOM), has empowered no fewer than 12,000 widows and less privileged women in Kwara State.
The empowerment, the group said, was in cash, food items and clothing materials.
It said it had been involved in such humanitarian gesture in the last 20 years.
Its founder, Mrs Florence Ajagbe, told our correspondent on the sidelines of the 20th edition of the programme held in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, that MESAWOM empowered 700 widows last December.
The theme was: “Praise the Lord,” and it featured songspiration from First ECWA Main Choir, First ECWA Women Choir, Shalom Band and Methodist Church Choir all in Ilorin metropolis. It was held on 10th of May, 2025.
For peace to reign in the society, women must live an exemplary life worthy of emulation.
She added: “I urge Nigerian women to live a life of example. This will engender peace and serenity in the society. And a life of example starts from the home. The scriptures admonish women to submit themselves to their husbands notwithstanding the economic status of such women.
“The woman should also train her children to be God fearing as well as inculcate in them age-long revered values.”

She said the over exposure to modernity was eroding spiritual and cultural values, leading to an upsurge in divorce.
The guest speaker, Rev Samuel Adebiyi, restated the significance of praise.
Rev Adebiyi, who doubles as the minister in charge of 12th ECWA in Ilorin, said: “we can pray amiss but we cannot praise amiss. We should always be thankful to God.
“If we recognise the mightiness of God in our lives and what He is capable of doing, we will always praise Him.
“We should praise God because He is our creator and He created us to praise Him. It is our duty to praise Him.”
The clergyman said “praise attracts miracles and blessings of God. Praise can be done by living a life of sacrifice in the hands of God. We can equally do that by testifying to the goodness of God always.”
